Young Prodigy Makes History by Conquering Tetris: 13-Year-Old Willis Gibson Reaches the Summit of Tetris

A milestone was achieved in the legendary Tetris game, created by Soviet engineer Alexey Pajitnov in 1984. Thirteen-year-old American prodigy Willis Gibson made history by reaching level 157 in the game. This accomplishment marked a record that had remained unattainable by anyone since the creation of Tetris.

Hailing from the state of Oklahoma, the young talent shared his challenging feat with the world through a 42-minute video. According to The New York Times, Gibson’s video garnered significant attention among gaming enthusiasts.

Reaching level 157 in the 38th minute of the game, Gibson encountered a challenge where the gameplay became impossible due to the limits of the game’s coding. Recording this moment on video, the young talent expressed his emotions, saying, “I can’t feel my fingers, my hands; I’m about to pass out,” influenced by both excitement and exhaustion.

Playing Tetris under the alias “Blue Scuti” since 2021, Gibson mentioned in an interview that this achievement “excited him immensely.” Despite the simplicity of the game, the young player emphasized the difficulty of mastering it and stated that the challenge intrigued him.

Tetris was initially believed to push the limits of human abilities around level 29 due to the rapidly increasing falling speed of the blocks since its inception. However, Willis Gibson’s legendary achievement has opened a new chapter in Tetris history.
